I held an ‘Open Day’ at my home the other week, a chance for the local ladies to come by and try on, comment and purchase some of our clothes.

The girls arrived in dribs and drabs throughout the afternoon to share a glass of bubbly and check out the clothes.  Everyone bought something, which didn’t surprise me, the clothes are gorgeous.  What did surprise me is how good they looked on the girls.

The Gail and Fiona for example, I’ve described them as being a sexy top but when the girls actually tried them on, they looked fantastic!  So sexy – needless to say, I sold a few of that style on the day.

Even the Dress looked fabulous, really slimming, which was surprising.  The halters always look great – unfortunately, most of our current range is no good for girls with large boobs!

So, I may hold another ‘Open Day’ soon, a chance to sell some more of our Summer stock so that I can order some more garments for Autumn/Winter.

I often wonder how other women choose the right size when purchasing ladies plus size clothing.  I am normally a 12-14 but I still buy a size 16 occasionally because i don’t like things that are too clingy (although everything seems to be clingy these days)!  So I figure, if I’m often confused by what size to buy when purchasing clothing, I’m probably not the only one.  What we really need to remember is that the size of the garment is irrelevant, its how it looks that matters.


I look at my friends and they say they are all the same size and i think, how is that possible?  They all look different – some are heavier on top and others are heavier on the bottom.  They also have different style of clothing that they wear which makes them all look different on another level again and its hard to believe that they buy the same size garments.  


After deciding to open an online store specializing in ladies plus size clothing in Australia, orders were placed with overseas suppliers and when the stock was received, I couldn’t believe the difference in the sizes, even within the same range of clothing.  I’ve found while researching ladies plus size clothing, there are so many different size charts around from different countries.  It can be quite daunting trying to figure out the equivalent Australian size when buying a product made in the USA.  I actually found that the sizes were smaller than the sizes the charts suggested, this is really frustrating when you’re trying to give your customers the best fit. 


I’ve decided that the way to go with my own online store, ‘Carodi’s Clothing Closet‘, is to lay the garment on the floor and measure it across the bust, waist and hips and then the length as well, and then ask my consumers to find a garment of their own that they like the fit of and do the same thing.  This should ensure a perfect fit.  I have a few halter tops for sale that are just gorgeous but when a friend tried them on, she just couldn’t wear any of them because they just wouldn’t hold her huge boobs.  So I’ve had to actually  tell people that if you are heavier on top, this top will not fit.  However the halter would look fabulous on someone who is maybe smaller on top and heavier on the bottom!  


It  is hard to decide what size to buy especially when buying online, I can only hope I’ve helped you out with your future purchases.
